House Captains Announced

Our new house captains have just been appointed. These are the faces you will see organising events, helping adults and children around school and setting great examples of behaviour and learning for everyone to follow. They are going to be great ambassadors for Queen Emma Primary School.

Come and meet our ‘House Captains…’

House Names Chosen
Congratulations to Freddie from Jaguar class who suggested naming our houses after famous scientists. Our houses are now called…

Franklin Hawking  Newton Darwin

Each child in school is now part of one of our houses and can earn house points by demonstrating use of their learning behaviours, working with maximum effort and being a great role model for others. House point totals will be collected each week. At the end of the half term, the winning house will be rewarded with a special ‘house treat.’

Super Scientists Revealed

In the week after half term the house captains were very busy, researching information to present to the whole school about the famous scientists whom our houses have been named after.

On Friday 3rd November each pair of house captains presented information about their scientist to the rest of the school in a whole school assembly. They were very excited and a little bit nervous too but they did an amazing job! Well done house captains. Click on the House Captain names above to read the information about each of the famous scientists.

Our first vertical house activity – ‘Buddy Reading’
On Friday 17th November, the house captains led our first vertical house activity. Children from Reception to Year 6 were grouped together and travelled around the school to read with their new house buddies. It was lovely to see so many children supporting each other and working together. What a great way to end our week!

Autumn Term
Thank you to everyone who helped us raise money last term for the school council’s chosen charity, ‘The World Wildlife Fund.’ Our Christmas Jumper Day raised nearly £250 and we raised £46 through sales of our first edition of ‘The House Hello.’ If you didn’t manage to purchase a copy, you can now read our magazine by following the link on our house captain page on the school’s website.

Spring Term
This term, we have already spent the money raised from our first Scholastic Book Fayre. After much discussion and deliberation, we decided that we would like to create some author collections for both libraries. We now have a complete set of Harry Potter books, a David Walliams, a Tom Gates, a Roald Dahl, a Michael Morpurgo, a Jeremy Strong, an Oliver Jeffers and an Anthony Browne author collection, to name just a few.

Next half term, we will be setting up a new weekly ‘Chatterbooks’ book club and investigating the purchasing of some very special Year 6 hoodies. Watch this space to find out more information soon.
